Biggest Obstacles Facing Property Investment Purchases

Purchasing property is a big step, and whether you are a first time homebuyer or looking to make your first property investment there are a lot of obstacles that can keep you from making the leap. Here are a few of the obstacles people who are looking to purchase property are sometimes faced with and how you can overcome them.Obstacles to Purchasing an Investment Property

Letting a Bad Investment Discourage You

The fact of the matter is that bad investments happen. It is a part of the process when you are looking to build a property investment portfolio, but you can’t let it dictate your actions the next time around. The market fluctuates all the time, and a decision that seemed sound may end up costing you if you make a poor investment that ends up losing you some money. You have to get back in there, learn from your mistakes, cut your losses and make investments that will get that money back for you. I have learnt far more from the deals that went wrong, than I did from the deals that went right.

Lack of Deposit

Many first-time homebuyers and potential investors run into this very basic problem when trying to buy a home or invest in property – a simple lack of funds to get the loan they need to invest. If you are experiencing this problem, look to alternative methods of obtaining a loan, such as through a government department, joint venture with others or equity in current properties.

Failure to Work Towards Stated Goals

It can be easy to set a goal such as “I will own a house by 30,” or “I will be invested in property by the time I am 40,” but without taking the smaller steps to reach these goals they can be difficult to achieve when those milestones arrive. Make forward progress towards what you want and you’ll be able to achieve it. Our future success is built on todays habits. So set a budget to ensure you put aside money towards your larger goals.

Fear of the Unknown

When we are unsure of something, we can tend to go into analysis paralysis whereby no amount of information will ever be enough for us to take action. I should know, I was in this mode in my early 20’s and I missed a lot of opportunities because of it. The key to getting over your fear is to leverage the experience of a property investment expert. You don’t need to know it all, you just need a great team.
