Alkimos is a coastal suburb of Perth that is part of the City of Wanneroo and was named after the shipwreck of the Greek freighter Alkimos which ran aground on the coast nearby in 1963. The suburb is part of the Alkimos-Eglinton region being considered by the State Government for a future city centre and urban region. This makes the area potential for investment and building homes.
Located 26 miles north-northwest of Perth's central business district, Alkimos lies between the Indian Ocean to the west and the proposed Mitchell Freeway to the east. Bounded to the north by Eglinton
, to the east by Carabooda
and to the south by the newly developed suburbs of Butler and Jindalee
Shopping centres and retail parks, supermarkets, restaurants, child care centres and schools can be found within 5 km of Alkimos.
Scenic view of the Eglinton Rocks and the Alkimos wreck can be enjoyed from the coastline. The suburb offers a wide array of native scrubland, woodland, bushland reserves, parks, landscaped areas, and playing fields.
There are a lot of transport options available to and around Alkimos. You can use car from Perth taking the Mitchell Freeway. The suburb is also being serviced by Transperth 480 or 490 from Clarkson, Joondalup or the Perth CBD and around 3 kilometers away, there's the nearest train station in Butler.
