Carlisle is a century-old community that features traditional trimmings that reflect Perth’s early planning style. Now largely an urban settlement, the suburb features tree-lined streets and grids that make it ideal for families, first-time home buyers, employees, and retirees. It is mainly flat and residents will enjoy views of the city from their location. Much of the developments are concentrated along Weston and Archer Streets, as well as Albany Highway.
Carlisle is surrounded by the Roberts Road, Rutland Avenue, Armadale Rail Line, Briggs Planet Kew Streets, and Orrong Road.
Over the past century the area and surrounding suburbs experienced several changes, with most of the developments concentrated along present-day Albany Highway. The suburb welcomes its tourists at The Carlisle Hotel, which is just opposite the main train station. The Belmont City Works Dpot, Town of Victoria Park Council Depot, Harold Hawthorne Seniors Center, and two nursing homes complete the city’s range of amenities.
Residents are delighted with at least four parks to choose from. Tom Wright, Parnham, and Fletcher Parks as well as Carlisle Reserve can be found within its boundaries. Residents can go bowling every weekend at the Carlisle Lathlain Bowling Club.
The suburb enjoys a wide network of public transport options available within the Town of Victoria Park. The suburb is serviced by both the Oats Street and Carlisle Train Station, which are both part of the Perth-Armadale Rail Line. This makes it easy to reach all parts of the suburb. Starting families have the Carlisle and Holy Name Primary Schools nearby. Polytechnic West – Carlisle Campus makes this suburb a friendly choice for students.
