Named after a small blue lily known to be abundant in the area before the development, Dianella is a nice place to live. Although early development was very slow because of the sandy soil, the 1960s saw a huge rise in housing construction. Today, it boasts of a “Golden Triangle” where prime lots and high-priced houses are located. Houses range from modest post-war houses to large, modern two storey homes.
Dianella occupies a geometric area at the northern part of Perth in Western Australia. Perth CBD is located just 9 kilometers away from Dianella. The suburb occupies an area of 10.7 km2. It lies at the heart of Perth's Jewish community.
An excellent choice for families, workers, and retired people, the suburb is home to all the commercial TV studios in Perth. A number of local stores are open while Centro Daniella offers great finds and is the major shopping center. Home to a small Greek community, it features a Greek retirement home, the Greek Orthodox College, a small Greek Orthodox Church, and a Greek day school. Jewish landmarks like Dianella Shule, the synagogue is also set in the suburb.
Landlocked, there are no options for enjoying the beach but several sporting venues are available in the suburb. Residents and visitors can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports and little athletics. There are also fields for cricket, soccer, football, and lacrosse.
A number of buses have routes across Dianella, including Transperth 16 and 20. The area is also served by taxis and rental vehicles. There might be areas not directly served by public transport, depending on the street location. Still, the roads are wide and there are plenty of open spaces for parking.
